Initially led by Agricultural Administration's Marilyn Trefz and Cathy Forte, the Council consists of 26 appointed staff members in the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and includes members from the Columbus campus, OARDC, ATI and OSU Extension offices across the state. The task force drafted a list of expectations regarding the sponsor's relationship to the council, including serving as a direct communication link between the council and administration, meeting quarterly with the council's executive team, being involved with council meetings and approving and providing council financial support.

The council, which serves in an advisory capacity to Vice President Bobby Moser, consists of 26 members appointed from areas throughout the college, including the Columbus campus, OARDC, ATI and OSU Extension. In addition, a college staff listserv was established to promote communication among the entire FAES staff. Thad Welch, Council Chair, resigned as Coordinator of Admissions for the college on May 1, 2000 to take a job outside the university. The staff survey was sent out and returned. The results are now being compiled and will likely be published during summer quarter. The response rate was good and all staff members completing the survey by May 18, 2000 are eligible for a prize drawing sponsored by the College.  Thanks to all who completed and returned the survey!     Following the April departure of council chair, Thad Welch, Vice Chair Christine Nielsen was installed as Chairperson. As a result, college administration has formed a working group to develop a supervisory training program on performance appraisal and a plan for implementation of the program for 2002. Survey respondents said being kept informed of decisions made in their unit that impact their position and responsibilities was the most important of 40 issues given.
