SAC Annual Meeting and Installation of Officers
The Staff Advisory Council met for their annual luncheon on October 19, 2001. The Council and invited guests used this time to: reflect on the past year, celebrate the council’s accomplishments, say goodbye to outgoing members, welcome new members and install the 2002 officers.
The Staff Advisory Council met for their annual luncheon on October 19, 2001. The Council and invited guests used this time to: reflect on the past year, celebrate the council’s accomplishments, say goodbye to outgoing members, welcome new members and install the 2002 officers.
During the luncheon, Regina Vann announced the new Shirley Brooks-Jones Citizenship Award for staff and the opportunity for staff members to spend the day with Dean Moser. The Shirley Brooks-Jones Citizenship Award is a one time, peer reviewed, cash award of $500. A day with the dean is for staff to gain a broader understanding of the College of Food Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. New members were welcomed onto the Council. The new members to the council are: Peggy Lambert from ATI, Gabriella Pearse-Danker from International Programs, Dana Oleshiewicz from Extension Northeast District Office, Helega Beke from Plant Pathology, Sandra Kuhn from OARDC Staff Council and Bill Koshar from OARDC central administration. A new member for Extension South district is still to be named. Terms for membership to SAC are three years with the opportunity to serve more than one term.
SAC said goodbye to: Betty Aylsworth from ATI, Mark Erbaugh from International Programs, Ted Gastire from Extension Northeast District, Ann Lighthiser from Plant Pathology, Susan Sommer from OARDC Staff Council, Carol Sowers from Extension South District and Shelley Whitworth from OARDC central administration. The Staff Advisory Council appreciates the dedication and hard work of these outgoing members.
SAC sponsor, L. H. Newcomb, installed the new officers. For the 2002 term, Deb Gallagher will serve as chair, Pat Patterson will serve as vice chair, Janice DiCarolis will serve as Communications Director and Rita Bowers will serve as Secretary. Dr. Newcomb shared with the Council and guests, that he was pleased to see the Council mature as it has and said that the Council added value to the College.
Bobby Moser, in his remarks, charged the Council with “ …bringing policy issues crucial to helping us (CoFAES) meet our goals.” and “Making the college a compelling place to work and learn.”
In the coming year, SAC will continue its efforts to bring staff issues of importance to administration. SAC also hopes to do it’s part to continue to make the College of Food Agriculture and Environmental Sciences a compelling place to work and learn.
